Local SEO

Do you know that 97% of the time, local businesses are discovered online?

A local business doesn’t have the benefit of mass appeal that can come with online advertising, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be found on the web. One of the most useful strategies in attracting new customers to your local business is using SEO, or search engine optimization, to place your website near the top of search results whenever someone searches for something related to your product or service. There are several benefits to doing this, which we’ll discuss below. But first, it helps to understand what SEO is and how it works.

You can reach more customers with SEO

Even if your business is based in a small town, you can potentially reach new customers and rank higher on search engines by using Search Engine Optimization (SEO). For example, a shoe store in Manchester can still reach customers in Birmingham. When people search Google for shoes or other related terms that pertain to your industry, your store will show up. You don’t need to be located near these people to serve them—you just need to meet their needs. And if you provide good quality service at an affordable price, there’s no reason why more people won’t do business with you!

No recurring costs with SEO

If you want to market your local business online, you’ll want to use search engine optimization as a your best tool as Ad campaigns come at a cost. SEO is free, which means you don’t have to pay anything up front. Instead, you can direct your attention and resources toward creating a quality website and great content so that customers will naturally find it. As long as it has good content and strong branding that people can recognize, it should be easily located by those who are looking.

SEO helps increase your credibility

SEO helps you to build trust around your business as people trust Google to provide the most relevant results from trusted websites when they search for a product or service online.

Once you’ve established your business and have some foot traffic, you still need to make sure people can find your website when they search online. In order to achieve this, you'll need relevant content and quality backlinks. Make sure all aspects of your business are easily found online, prospective customers are more likely to trust that your company is legitimate.

Get ahead of your competition

Most businesses ignore local search because they don’t think it will help them. But if you are just opening up shop, local search is one of your best and cheapest ways to get customers through your door. You can grab a top spot in Google Maps by claiming your business listing on major sites like Yelp and Facebook. If people are looking specifically for a business like yours, it is much easier to convince them to take action and come see you (or buy from you) than if they’re comparing similar companies online. Don’t miss out on all that free traffic otherwise will be your competitors.

Increase Trustworthiness

A personal connection with customers is vital, and that’s where search engine optimization comes in. Search engine optimization can help you strengthen relationships with potential clients, because they’ll be able to see your expertise when they browse search results. Customers can click through to your website quickly, helping you build a relationship faster than if you had been relying on word-of-mouth alone. Once a customer has trusted you enough to give you their contact information, like their email address or phone number, then it will be easier to sell them on other products or services down the line.

You can do SEO by yourself

If you’re a small business owner, you probably don’t have an in-house marketing team. In fact, if you’re like most entrepreneurs, chances are you work alone and handle everything yourself—which means your best bet is to do some (or all) of your own SEO. But don’t get intimidated: If you take things one step at a time and start with what’s important to your site (and relevant to customers), it’s much easier than you think. Just make sure that when it comes to search engine optimization—you’re doing it right!

If you run a local business or are thinking about starting one, it’s important to understand how search engine optimization (SEO) can help you. Even though you might not be advertising on TV or radio, your website is where people will start their hunt for products and services in your area. Since these searches are primarily done online these days, people will only see results from companies that have an online presence, which means that if yours isn’t optimized it may be left out.

what is seo

If you’re looking to grow your company or product, optimizing your content for search engines could be the best way to go about it. However, if you’re new to this game, the jargon can seem overwhelming and the benefits abstract at best. What exactly is search engine optimization? How does it work? And why should you care? Read on to learn more about what SEO means and how it can help your business reach its full potential.

1. What is Search Engine Optimization

Search engine optimization (SEO) is a strategic process for improving your site’s visibility in search engines. This is an important concept to grasp early in any business venture—what you do and how you go about doing it matters. SEO will be one of your most powerful marketing tools as you grow your online presence and build awareness around your brand. With that said, knowing what SEO is won’t mean much unless you consider why it matters to help you create a game plan that best reflects your business goals.

2. Types of SEO

On-Page SEO, Off-Page SEO, and Technical SEO. On-page SEO refers to all of the elements that are on your web page itself (the on part) and affects things like keyword density. Whereas off-page SEO is made up of things like guest blogging and link building. Technical SEO is one aspect of optimizing a website for search engines that’s often overlooked by businesses who don’t have an in-house SEO team. If you want to be successful with SEO, it’s important to ensure your site has high visibility in search results – so hiring a professional can be crucial if you aren’t an expert yourself.

3. Benefits of Good SEO

The more you know about SEO, the better you’ll be able to take advantage of it—and ultimately get more out of your online presence. For starters, good SEO practices can improve your site’s traffic and search engine rankings. This will boost how visible your content is in search results, as well as how much traffic your website gets from organic searches. Beyond that, good SEO practices help ensure people actually want to click on your link when they see it in search results. After all, if you don’t appear anywhere near top ranking on a term people are searching for on Google or Bing—well then why would they bother clicking?

4) Common Misconceptions About SEO

There’s a lot of misunderstanding about SEO—and it sometimes seems that there are a lot of misconceptions. For instance, some people think SEO is simply stuffing keywords into a post; others believe SEO can be done easily and quickly; some even have an impression that SEO works only for large websites. However, in reality all these assumptions couldn’t be further from the truth.  So what does work? The answer lies in creating unique content that appeals to both users and search engines alike. In other words, you need to create content that is useful to your readers while also ensuring search engines understand what your page is about.
